The role of surface finish in CNC machining cannot be overemphasized, as it influences both the functional and visual appeal of produced parts.
Expert-grade surface treatments optimized for functionality, durability, and aesthetics.
Raw finish directly from CNC. The most economical choice with the tightest tolerances. Visible tool marks present.
Machined at lower feed rates. Less visible tool marks, better sealing properties, and reduced friction.
Smoothing to remove tool marks. Essential for optical parts, molds, or reducing friction.
Bombarded with glass beads for a uniform matte finish. Hides tool marks. Note: affects dimensions.
Batch process with vibrating media. Removes sharp edges (deburring) and smooths geometry.
Corrosion-resistant oxide layer. Matte finish achieved by bead blasting prior to anodizing. Non-conductive.
Standard Type II anodizing applied to a polished/smooth surface. Vibrant, shiny appearance.
Thick, dense oxide layer (25–50μm). Extreme wear resistance (60–70 HRC). Limited color options (dark).
Dry powder fused by heat. Strong, thick plastic skin (~80μm). Superior durability to wet paint.
Conversion coating. Anti-glare with mild corrosion resistance (needs oil). Negligible thickness change.
Corrosion protection for aluminum that stays electrically conductive. Great paint primer. Cost-effective.
Depositing metal (nickel, zinc, chrome) for solderability, hardness, or corrosion resistance.
Diamond-Like Carbon. Extremely hard and low-friction. Used in engines, tools, and luxury watches.
